Lateinischer Name: Agaricus blazei, Agaricus subrufescens, Agaricus brasiliensis

Andere Namen: ABM, almond mushroom, mushroom of the sun (englisch), Mandelpilz, Brasilianischer Mandel-Egerling (deutsch), Agaricus blazei (französisch).

Aktive Inhaltsstoffe: Polysaccharide (Beta-Glucane, Hetero-Glucane, Xylo-Glucane), Enzyme (Amylase, Trypsin, Protease, Tyrosinase), Glycoprotein (Lektin).

Der Ursprung dieses Pilzes liegt in der Stadt Piedade bei Sao Paulo in Brasilien. Das Klima dort ist ideal für die Verbreitung dieser Pilzart. Heute wird der Pilz auch andernorts unter den gleichen Bedingungen gezüchtet.

Aufgrund der verschiedenen im Agaricus gefundenen Inhaltsstoffe gibt es mehrere medizinische Anwendungen, die nachfolgend kurz zusammengefasst werden.
